Lucy's Globe 8
he educational geography software Lucy’s Globe offers lots of jigsaw puzzle like games for the states or capitals of the world, the federal states of the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany... These games are structured in a way that will give you deep geography knowledge in little time.
Basically, a game shows the states or capitals in a list that is ordered in given way (by surface of the states, population, density of population, alphabetically o randomly). The best is to begin will the ordering by surface. This makes it easy: You select the first name in the list (Russia) and you click on the biggest country that you find on the globe. If you are right, the country name disappears from the list and appears on the globe. Then you select the next item and you search it on the globe. If you don’t find a country – for some of them it is really impossible to find them at the beginning because there are so tiny -, you don’t need to despair; just click on the corresponding button in the game list box and the position of the searched state will be shown. Next time you play the game, maybe that you still remember the place...
You can switch the globe itself and the games to another language, independently of the user interface language. This allows you to train geography vocabulary in foreign languages or even to train the Cyrillic alphabet.
Other features: The infobox gives you the basic data about a clicked country: surface, population, density of population. With the table of states you can put the countries in one of different orders: name, surface, population, density of population, continent... All the labels on the globe can be searched and the globe turns so that the label comes into the middle. Groups of states as the EU, the Arab League... can be emphasized. With Lucy's Globe you can also enter you own labels, add groups of states, add cities...
With the shareware version only a part of the states is used in the puzzle games modes.
