MarkReader 3
ptical Mark Recognition (OMR) is a method for collecting data from hand-filled paper forms. Previously OMR forms had to be scanned using dedicated scanners which in turn required specifically designed and printed forms. MarkReader on the other hand, processes images obtained from an image scanner to acquire data from hand-marked forms. The forms are ordinary print-outs that are designed and printed using MarkReader. The data obtained can be exported in various formats (CSV, TXT, DAT) to be used in third party applications such as exam assessment applications, statistical analysis software etc.
MarkReader provides an integrated form editor which allows designing, customizing and printing forms. You don't need to buy expensive OMR forms and try to adapt your applications to their fixed design.
OMR, OCR/ICR, Image, Rich Text, Barcode and Image-Clip are elements supported by the editor. Form templates can be merged by external data to print precoded forms.
All MarkReader requires for processing OMR forms is an office scanner with WIA driver. You don't need to buy expensive and dedicated OMR scanners. Besides OMR, you can process barcodes, acquire OCR/ICR text and get image clips.
Form images can be taken directly from the scanner of can be imported from folders. Multi-sheet and duplex forms are also supported. Acquired data can be exported in standard formats for use in third party applications.
Unlike Classical OMR scanners which only gather data, MarkReader provides basic test scoring and survey analysis besides acquiring data.
Calculates scores, group averages, analayses and reports survey results without even hiring another program.
MarkReader is designed for maximum accuracy. Time-ticks at two sides, drop-out form color and user-defined mark-threshold are techniques chosen for best accuracy.
Tests, surveys, ballots, application and evaluation forms are some of areas where MarkReader can bed used.
