he TypingCenter is a free to try typing tutor and is one of e most popular typing software for the 10 finger system. The software is aimed at educational institutions and companies in order to train students and staff. The novice practicing software makes use of sequential didactic lessons in which new skills will be taught or reinforced. The lessons consist of four parts in which multiple typing skills will be taught. The four steps include preparation, consolidation, error repetition and auditing. The typing tutor by Neuber is compatible with Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP or Server. Using high motivation typing, TypingCenter also provides advice as you train along with speech aids in order to guide users through the training. Each exercise is made in order to test specific skills in a playful manner rather than just mindless typing. Once these exercises are complete, the user is presented with a graphical evaluation of their progress. This shareware for PC can be used for free until its trial period of 20 lessons has elapsed. Three kinds of exercises that are available are special finger training, Advanced Finger training and text templates. Special finger training is the most basic level of training in which users receive special instructions with regard handles, ergonomics and finger positions. Advanced Finger Training requires the user to learn more complicated skills where they dominate the keypad and train individual fingers. The motive of this level is to increase the typing speed and reduce the rate of errors. The text template on the other hand requires the user to type out text files on the clipboard to create extensive texts. Initially targeted at German speakers willing to learn English typing, the TypingCenter has now been extended to other languages such as Swiss and English. The interface is extremely user friendly and interactive in order to make typing easier for students and staff that are not familiar with typing.
