WindRose PRO 3.1.10
indRose PRO is a Windows application for representing directional variables starting from raw data or from their frequencies. It can be used to represent wind roses, but it is also possible to represent roses of any other variable of interest. A wind rose is a chart which gives a view of how wind speed and wind direction are distributed at a particular location over a specific period of time. It is a very useful representation because a large quantity of data can be summarised in a single plot.
WindRose PRO loads different file formats: Microsoft Excel files (XLS and XLSX); ASCII files with fields separated by specific delimiters; EnergyPlus Weather files; AERMOD surface files; ISC3ST files; NMEA0183 files; Frequencies.
Wind roses and other charts are saved in raster formats (PNG, JPG, GIF, TIF, BMP). Wind roses can be exported as KML for Google Earth, SHP for GIS systems and DXF for CAD systems. Numerical results can be exported as ASCII files, Rich Text Format (RTF) and Microsoft Excel format (this last with charts inside).
Beside the classical wind roses, other plots can be generated: the rose of minimum/average/maximum values, raw data and rays. Raw data plot allows to represent a third variable when data are loaded as Microsoft Excel files.
Wind turbines features, including power curves, can be specified and saved. They are used to calculate the wind power potential of a location and the operativity of a specific wind turbine. The user can create its onw database of wind turbines.
Crosswind and tailwind calculations for airports runways are carried out by the software.
Many options can be defined for each plot and saved in a configuration file. Data can be filtered according to their values and to dates and times (month, day of the week, hour of the day, day/night hours). Each user can add its own logo over the wind rose chart. Wind rose charts elements (title, legend, notes and user logo) are positioned by clicking and dragging operations.
